Newsflash

If the promise of a slimmer waistline hasn't curbed your sweet tooth, maybe the desire for smooth skin will. It's a bitter pill to swallow, but experts now believe that a lifetime of overeating sugar can make skin dull and wrinkled.

What you eat...

What you eat is more important than most people really understand. I can not stress enough the importance of good nutrition for healthy skin.

Consider two simple, yet immensly important facts. First, the skin is the largest organ in/on the human body. It has many functions in the regulation of a healthy human, and the one among them that is pertininent to this discussion is that of elimination of toxins. That's correct, your skin helps to rid the body of stuff it doesn't need. Now ask yourself, if you are constanly putting poor quality food into your body, what is you skin going to do more of? That's right, eliminate the junk that's been going in.

Second, remember that your body completely replenishes itself every seven years or so. If you are not putting in the nutrients that are necessary to rebuild healty skin, then your body simply can NOT rebuild healthy skin. It would be like trying to build a house with broken boards and cheap concrete. You'd be able to get the job done, but your house would be an eyesore and you'd never want to have company over. In short, if you want to have healty skin, you need to have a healthy diet. One rich in vitamins and minerals and varied in color and type.

There are many many good books out there on eating healthy, my personal favorite is the South Beach Diet. Simply because it shows you how to eat healthy, while neither starving yourself or giving up flavorful food.

Want smooth skin? Get an epilator

There are many hair removal systems available in today's retail stores, but which ones actually work and give you weeks of peace-of-mind and hair free sensitive skin areas?

Okay, we know that we can purchase razors in all sizes, types and styles, but most razors do not get those small fine hairs and you usually have to shave at least every other day or you have that prickly feeling. This is very unsightly as the short hair poke out of your pantyhose and can even cause runs in your hose. Then there are all types of shaving creams and gels that are suppose to lift the hairs for easier shaving, but you are still left with shaving about every other day.

Then there is waxing. These hair removal systems do in fact rid your body of unwanted hair, but try in on your bikini line. This can be very painful, not to mention time consuming.

There is also a type of laser surgery that guarantees it is a permanent hair removal system. But, who can afford to have a doctor remove unwanted hair, plus the time involved as well.

The cheapest easiest hair removal systems are epilators. These unique hair removal systems were designed especially for women. There are several on the market today that are virtually pain free that can guarantee you will rid your body of unwanted hair for 4 to 6 weeks.

The idea of these hair removal systems is that they use a specially designed head with one or more rows of tweezer type discs that will pull the hair out by the root. When the hair comes out at the root it will take much longer to grow back. You may say, ouch, but in fact they are designed to hold the skin taunt to aid in pain reduction. They are also created with unique heads that do not even touch the skin to ensure that your skin does not become irritated.

In the course of my work I have had nothing but praise from my clients to whom I have recommended epilators.

So, if you are seeking hair removal systems that are convenient, safe, and inexpensive, then you need to compare epilators. You are sure to come up with one which matches your lifestyle

Four Tips to Prevent Wrinkles

Wrinkles are just about on a par with death and taxes when it comes to inevitability but, even if you can't actually prevent them, there are things you can do to delay the onset of wrinkles. Fine lines and wrinkles start to appear as we get older, however, there is no set age for wrinkles to start appearing, that depends upon your skin type and lifestyle. The first fine lines that signal that wrinkles are developing are greeted with horror by many people, but it is possible to defer the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Making a few simple lifestyle changes will enable you to keep your skin young-looking for longer.

Smoking And Wrinkles

Smoking is about the worst thing you can do to your body. Smoking increases your risk of lung diseases such as emphysema and cancer and makes you vulnerable to unpleasant bronchial disorders. Smoking also affects the gums by causing them to shrink, thereby causing your teeth to become loose. Smoking also causes premature aging of your skin and accelerates the appearance of wrinkles. Smoking causes a decreased blood flow to the skin and also reduces the amount of oxygen in the blood. This deprives the skin of oxygen and essential nutrients. The skin loses elasticity and the result can be seen in sagging and premature wrinkles.

Protecting Your Skin To Prevent Wrinkles

Exposure to harmful UV rays will accelerate the onset of wrinkles. UV light in small amounts is beneficial because it helps the body produce vitamin D, but medical studies have shown how regular prolonged exposure to sunlight without protection damages the skin. The damage will be present long before it becomes visible and, by the time you can see the effects of exposure to sunlight, wrinkles will be noticeable and the damage will be irreversible. Unprotected exposure to UV light causes burning, damage to DNA and skin cancers. It is important to use sunscreen whenever you are going to be exposed to the sun in order to prevent premature aging of the skin and early development of wrinkles.

Water As An Anti-Wrinkle Treatment

Dry skin which is prone to flaking is not attractive and lack of moisture in the skin is also a major cause of wrinkles. To keep your skin cells plumped up, you should make sure your body is sufficiently hydrated every day. You need to moisturise inside and out, in order to avoid wrinkles. Make sure to drink plenty water. The amount of water needed varies from person to person and is affected by metabolism, climate and levels of activity. While there is no recommended daily "dose", the general consensus is that the average healthy adult living in a temperate climate should consume 2-3 litres of water a day

Moisture Is A Must.

As well as making sure you keep your body's hydration at a healthy level, you should apply moisturiser to your skin every day. Moisturiser should be applied twice a day: in the morning before applying makeup and last thing at night. The day time moisturiser needs to contain SPF (sun protection factor) appropriate to the climate where you are living. If the atmosphere is dry, your skin will benefit from the use of a humidifier; this is particularly important in the winter when central heating is in use.

Of course, it is impossible to halt the aging process but its visible affect on your skin can be slowed down so that the appearance of wrinkles starts later rather than sooner.
